Andrei Robu

"Inspiration exists, it just has to find you working."-Pablo Picasso. The art of Andrei Robu. All pictures courtesy of Andrei Robu.

Romanian artist and typographer Andrei Robu has literally blown my mind with his inventive and forward art. He started out being fascinated by typography and modern art as a youth, and followed his dream to the point of being creative director of Acme Industries; an art firm in Bucharest.

His works are visually inspiring and literally a combination of the future and what the past thought the future would be. Just look at his "trick-funk" typeface [above]. It could have easily been used as lettering for a World's Fair Miami poster just as easily as it can be used for the next HARDfest poster.

When I see art, design or architecture this inspiring, it makes me want to fly. Literally.

Some of Andrei's hand illustrated typography...also known as "burners."

Andrei's "3-D gone 2'D" typeface. Visually stunning.

You can check out more of his stuff here. He has as typeface book coming out July 2010 and I hope to get my hands on a copy.

GAGA for HAITI

Let's hear a big RA-RA for GA-GA! Giving back is the new black. Lady Gaga for Haiti tees supporting Haiti Relief. Picture courtesy of the Hottness Blog.

Lady Gaga is for the people. All people. In fact, she should be called Saint Gaga of the Glowsticks with all the support she is giving to those in need.

On top of all the activism for the upheval of Prop. H8T, she's giving 100% of the proceeds from this cool tee to Haiti Relief.

Now that's how a celebrity gives back. If you wanna do your part to support the nation of Haiti, cop one of those tees by clicking here.

"GAGA, Ooh, la la!"

I saw Avatar. It was okay.

I think I'm gonna say what everyone else has already said about it, but y'know.

The movie was visually and viscerally stunning. You can't deny that, but...and this is a H U G E but; the storyline was more predicatble than a Mariah Carey video. I mean, it was literally the same movie as Ferngully: The Last Rainforest. I'm a 90's baby, so it was easy to spot.

Anyway, I just wanted to get that out there in the open.

From the Desk of YFJ: I'm Back, Suckas!!!

"I know I'm late, and I took all year; but you can stop complaining cuz I'm finally heeere."-Kanye.

It's literally been a while since I've posted at the awesome namesake blog, but I've found the time to get back into my mode. Now, like I said a couple posts back, I'm gonna change the speed of this blog and make it more personal because...I should.

You'll get to know me more, which is a plus! You'll see.

Holla at ya boy [who says that anymore???]

DJ AM x NIKE Dunk HI

NIKE x DJ AM Dunk Hi. All pictures courtesy of Freshness via THE FEED.

In honor of the late and very awesome DJ AM, Nike is releasing a signature version of the Dunk Hi.

The sneaker is in Adam's fav colorway...the AJ1 Varsity red and black with an added touch on the Swoosh. It's 3M reflective...that's dope.

I imagine if and when they release the shoe, proceeds will go to the Adam Goldstein fund or some charitable organization, so you better cop them and help continue the life's work of a great person.

Spongebob Squarepants by Karl Lagerfeld

Bob L'eponge et Karl Lagerfeld got paid at the WWF charity auction. Picture courtesy of Hypebeast.

aUnkle Karl gave America's [and 'du monde'] favorite sponge a makeover for charity. The WWF [World Wildlife Foundation] held a charity auction consisting of a bunch of chotsckis and autographs from local celebs including this special golden edition of Spongebob or Bob L'eponge as the French say.

I have to say, he looks right insane.

I'm not a total fan of this look, but some lucky S.O.B. was. The winner of this plush paid 1,000 Euros [$1,500 US] and is now able to put this next to their other expensive, yet highly creepy stuffed animals.

Would you have paid it?
